How do you wind down?

I had a busy week last week and by Friday I knew I was both physically and mentally tired. Late Friday afternoon, I found myself juggling several work tasks, when I really wanted to be winding down. When life gets busy (and let’s face it, when is it not?) it’s so easy to push on through, keep going with task after task, whether that’s for work, home or family, and not stop to rest. It’s got me thinking about how we use our weekends and whether that helps us.

Oftentimes our weekends are just as busy as our weekdays, if not more. How do you want to use your weekend time - do you get to do the things that make you happy, the things that revitalise you? So when we’ve had a big week, how do we actively wind down and recharge ourselves to make the most of the weekend?

I’ve been making sure I take some time out over each weekend, whether that’s going for a walk or spending additional time practising yoga or meditating.

How do you approach the weekend? When it gets to Friday evening, how are you feeling? What are you thinking about? Do you have time to unwind, or are you straight into weekend plans? What would you like to do? When are you at your best?

I recognise it’s a privilege to be able to set time aside to rest and recharge and how important that is for me to maintain my physical and mental health. With that in mind, once a month I’m hosting an online wind down yoga session on Friday evenings.

We’ll go through some gentle flows to relax and unwind any tension from the week and then go into breathing exercises and relaxation to help calm your mind. A little treat for the end of the week.

The next class is Friday Nov 19, book now to get your place.
